Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital

In September 2017, Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated the Virgin Islands (VI) and Puerto Rico. Governor Juan F. Luis (JFL) Hospital, the main medical care provider on St. Croix in the United States Virgin Islands (USVI), was one of the unfortunate casualties of the powerful storms.  FEMA officials helped JFL identify Serenus and the MetaSpace system as a solution for the island’s temporary medical needs.

Serenus partnered with Aptim, a global infrastructure contractor, to provide a 90 bed full-service interim hospital from the Serenus MetaSpace system.  With a notable red roof, the 55,000sqft space was constructed adjacent to the former hospital on parking lots featuring elevation changes of over 13 feet. The temporary hospital space (THS) includes an emergency department, four operating rooms, an intensive care unit, pediatrics, behavioral health, pharmacy, labs and even food service.
